Resurface & Renew Your Complexion

Transform Your Skin From Within

Skin resurfacing treatments work by removing or disrupting damaged outer layers of skin to stimulate the body's natural renewal processes. The result is progressively smoother, clearer, more even-toned skin — as healthy new cells replace those compromised by acne scarring, sun damage, aging, or chronic congestion. At Skin Diva, every resurfacing treatment plan is designed around your unique skin type, concern, and downtime tolerance. The treatment menu spans medical-grade chemical peels, dermaplaning, Twist microneedling, IPL photofacials, and Plexr Plus plasma resurfacing. Your provider will discuss treatment suitability, expected outcomes, and aftercare during your consultation. Resurfacing treatments produce cumulative results. A single session can produce a visible improvement; a series of 3–6 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart delivers transformative, long-lasting change.

The Science

What Is Skin Resurfacing?

Skin resurfacing is a broad category of clinical treatments that improve skin appearance by controlled removal or disruption of the skin's outermost layers — triggering the body's wound-healing cascade and stimulating replacement with healthier, better-organized tissue. The mechanism varies by modality: chemical peels use acid solutions to dissolve intercellular bonds at a controlled depth; microneedling creates micro-channels through the epidermis and into the dermis to stimulate fibroblast activity and collagen synthesis. Each approach initiates the same biological outcome — accelerated cellular turnover, new collagen production, and progressive improvement in skin quality.

At Skin Diva, Jodie Weir RN, BSCN selects the resurfacing modality based on your Fitzpatrick skin type, specific concern, and the degree of clinical intervention appropriate for your skin's current health. Superficial peels (glycolic, lactic, mandelic) treat surface texture and tone with minimal downtime. Medium-depth peels (TCA combinations) address pigmentation, more pronounced textural irregularities, and acne scarring. Microneedling is particularly effective for scar remodeling and volumetric skin quality improvement. A thorough consultation determines which modality — or combination — will produce the safest, most effective outcome for your skin.

Your Treatment

What to Expect

How to Prepare

Avoid retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, and other active ingredients for 5–7 days before treatment. Avoid sun exposure and tanning for 2 weeks. Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin. Inform Jodie of all current medications and any recent skin treatments.

During Treatment

Depending on the chosen modality, you may experience mild tingling or warmth during a peel, or mild pressure and vibration during microneedling. Treatment times vary from 30–75 minutes. Topical anaesthetic is used for microneedling.

Recovery

Expect varying degrees of redness, peeling, or flaking for 3–7 days depending on the depth of treatment. Keep skin hydrated, avoid active ingredients until fully healed, and apply SPF 50+ daily.

Results

An initial glow is visible within 1–2 weeks as fresh skin is revealed. Collagen remodeling continues for 4–6 weeks post-treatment. Cumulative improvement is significant after a full course of 3–6 sessions.

Prolonging Your Results

A medical-grade home care routine and daily SPF 50+ are non-negotiable for maintaining resurfacing results. Jodie will prescribe your personalized home protocol at the end of your treatment.
