Reveal Your Natural Radiance

Rejuvenation that starts with you

Platelet-rich plasma therapy harnesses concentrated platelets and growth factors from your own blood to support natural repair, collagen production, and cellular renewal. At Skin Diva, our injectable team — Jodie Weir, RN, BScN; Tricia Smith, RN; and Dana Yee, NP — creates personalized PRP plans for skin rejuvenation and hair restoration. Because the treatment uses your own plasma, it offers a natural approach with minimal risk of allergic reaction and without adding synthetic filler.

The Science

What is platelet-rich plasma?

PRP is a concentrated solution prepared from a small sample of your own blood. It contains platelets and growth factors involved in tissue repair, collagen support, and cellular renewal.

Once separated and concentrated, PRP may be injected or applied to targeted areas of the face or scalp. A consultation determines whether PRP is appropriate for your skin, hair, health history, and treatment goals.

Your own regenerative potential

How PRP therapy works

01

A small blood sample

Your provider draws a small amount of blood, much like a routine blood test.

02

Platelets are concentrated

The sample is processed in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich plasma.

03

PRP is precisely applied

The prepared PRP is injected or applied to the selected skin or scalp treatment area.

Personalized applications

PRP for skin and hair

Skin rejuvenation

Refresh texture, tone, and radiance

PRP may support collagen production and cellular renewal to soften the appearance of fine lines, uneven texture, acne scarring, pigmentation, and sun damage. It may be used alone or paired with microneedling when appropriate.

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Uneven tone and texture
  • Acne scarring
  • Overall skin radiance

Hair restoration

Support fuller-looking hair

PRP places concentrated platelets and growth factors directly into targeted areas of the scalp to support follicle health and natural hair growth for suitable candidates experiencing thinning.

  • Pattern hair thinning
  • Crown and hairline concerns
  • Reduced density
  • Women and men

Understanding platelet therapies

Understanding PRP preparation

PRP is prepared from a person’s own blood and contains platelets involved in the body’s repair response.

PRP · Platelet-rich plasma

PRP typically uses an anticoagulant during preparation to help prevent clotting and keep the plasma in a liquid state. Once activated, its platelets can release growth factors relatively quickly. The release pattern depends on the preparation and activation method.

Evidence, suitability, preparation method, and treatment goals matter; PRP does not guarantee an outcome.

Combination treatment planning

Microneedling & multi-layered biostimulation

Combining microneedling with PRP brings together two different treatment mechanisms: controlled micro-injuries that stimulate the skin’s repair response, and platelet-derived growth factors that may support that response. This complementary approach is sometimes described as “multi-layered biostimulation”—not a guarantee of deeper treatment or better results.

Your clinician determines whether PRP should be applied or injected as part of your plan, and whether combining treatments is appropriate for your skin or scalp.

Evidence and outcomes vary by concern and protocol. Combining treatments may increase irritation or downtime, and is not appropriate for everyone. Active infection, healing concerns, medications, and bleeding or platelet conditions need review before treatment.

Blood-product handling & clinical oversight

Medical Governance & Safety

Using your own blood does not make PRP risk-free. Blood collection, processing, and application must take place in a strictly controlled medical environment, performed by appropriately trained, regulated healthcare professionals working within their scope of practice and applicable clinical requirements.

Rigorous infection prevention

Safe practice requires hand hygiene, appropriate protective equipment, aseptic technique, sterile single-use collection and treatment supplies, and validated processing protocols. Reusable equipment must be cleaned, disinfected, or sterilized as appropriate to its use and the manufacturer’s instructions. Blood products themselves must not be subjected to improvised sterilization.

Identification, processing & accountability

Patient identification and sample labelling, separation of each patient’s materials, equipment maintenance, documented handling and processing, and safe sharps and biomedical-waste disposal are essential. Blood products and injection supplies must never be shared between patients.

Assessment & informed consent

Clinical oversight includes reviewing medical history and medications, assessing contraindications, explaining the evidence and alternatives, obtaining informed consent, documenting treatment, and arranging aftercare and management of complications. Ask your provider how these safeguards are maintained.

Reducing risk—not promising zero risk

Rigorous protocols are essential to minimize contamination, infection, and bloodborne-pathogen transmission; no procedure can eliminate every risk. Increasing redness, warmth, swelling, worsening pain, drainage, or fever after treatment needs prompt medical assessment.

What to Expect

Consultation

Your provider reviews your concerns, health history, skin or scalp, and goals to determine whether PRP is appropriate for you.

Blood Draw & Preparation

A small blood sample is collected and processed in a centrifuge to isolate the platelet-rich plasma.

Treatment

The prepared PRP is precisely injected or applied to the selected skin or scalp areas according to your personalized plan.

Recovery

Temporary redness, tenderness, swelling, or bruising may occur. Many clients return to their normal routine quickly, following their provider’s aftercare guidance.
