Frequently Asked Questions

Juvaderm fillers

Are JUVEDERM Injections painful?

JUVEDERM facial fillers contain lidocaine which is a local pain reliever to decrease the discomfort during injections. SkinDiva uses a topical anesthetic to also decrease the discomfort during needle insertion. You may feel a small pinch and slight burn during injection but with the use of the above stated this should be minimal.

How long does JUVEDERM last?

HA injections are said to last 6-9 months in the lips, possibly lasting up to 12-18 months when placed in areas of the face like cheeks, jaw and tear trough areas. However, if one has a high metabolism the HA will be metabolized faster therefore not lasting as long, possibly only last 4-6 months, especially in the lips.

Will I see the results of JUVEDERM immediately?

Yes, you will see your results immediately. If receiving Lip filler, your lips will be swollen at first but you will see the effects of JUVEDERM immediately, however they may initially be bigger then requested, keep in mind this is the swelling. You may swell more within the first 24 hours, but the swelling will then decrease and the product will settle, giving you the lips you wanted. It is important to ice your lips with in the first 24 hours to help decrease the swelling. Also, for facial fillers you may also be swollen in the injection area, but this too will decrease over the 24 hours. Don’t expect to get Angelina Jolie’s lips at your first Lip injection appointment. Ultimately, you and your injector will discuss what look is best to enhance your facial features. Increasing the size to the desired goal is something that happens gradually over time as injecting to much at once comes with huge risk factors and complications to happen. SkinDiva takes pride in their work and refuses to inject clients with unrealistic goals that will cause for significant risk factors.

How long do JUVEDERM injections take?

SkinDiva will take the time to understand each clients goals, concerns and face features, therefore appointments for injections are booked for 30-45 mins depending on the treatment plan provided. The injections itself may take 20-30 mins as it is an ARTISTIC treatment, time and patience when injecting are a virtue.

What is the downtime after JUVEDERM injections?

There is almost no downtime, however  SkinDiva wouldn’t recommend getting the treatment done before a big event or make big plans the night of in case you have a lot of swelling or some bruising. We recommend doing it at least a week before a big event such as a wedding, graduation etc.

What should I do in preparation for my JUVEDERM treatment?

Avoid taking anti inflammatories such as Advil, naproxen, ASA, fish oil and Vit E at least 10-14 days prior to treatment as these substances tend to thin the blood which in turn increases the risk of bruising. As well as refrain from alcohol consumption 24 hours prior to appointment time. If you have a history of cold sores, preventative medication such as Valtrex or Llysine should be considered 1-2 days before injections. Any trauma caused to the lip area such as injections increases the risk of developing a cold sore. SkinDiva also recommends no exercise the day of the procedure as this will increase blood flow to your face increasing risk of swelling.

What will happen if I stop getting lip Injections or facial fillers?

Your lips and facial features will return to their original state. Your lips or skin will not turn into saggy, wrinkly skin bags. However, the HA that was at one time injected into your lips has been proven to increase the bodies natural production of HA at the site of injection, therefore your lips could naturally remain a bit larger.

Frequently Asked Questions

Latisse eyelash treatment

What is LATISSE?

LATISSE is the only prescribed treatment to treat HYPOTRICHOSIS (inadequate or minimal eyelashes). The ingredient in LATISSE is Bimatoprost ophthalmic solution and the first FDA-approved treatment, which affects the growth phase of the eyelash by increasing the length and thickness.

How do you use LATISSE?

LATISSE comes with sterile brush applicators, using these applicators apply a drop of LATISSE to the brush and dabb it on the upper lash line each night. Don’t not apply it to your eye or to the lower lid. It will automatically transfer onto your lower lid by blinking. Prior to application be sure face is clean, make up and contact lenses are removed. After application always be sure to discard each applicator as re-using applicators increases the risk of eye infections or allergic reaction.  When applying LATISSE, be sure to not apply to skin around the eye as it may promote hair growth.

How often do I apply LATISSE?

Applying LATISSE nightly for the first 4-6 weeks or till you begin to see results.  After 3-4 months, your physician may recommend that you apply it less such as every two days for maintenance. If you decide to stop using LATISSE, your eyelashes will gradually return to their former state prior to use of LATISSE.

What are the side effects of LATISSE?

Do not use LATISSE if you are allergic to the ingredients of LATISSE. If you are already using or have used prescription products for eye pressure problems then be sure to ask your physician if using LATISSE is right for you. When using LATISSE, you may experience brown darkening of the coloured part of these which may be permanent. Latisse may cause eyelid darkening which is reversible. Only apply to base of upper eyelid, DO NOT apply to lower eye lid as this may promote hair growth to other areas outside of the treatment area.  Other common side effects include itchy and red eyes, this will eventually subside with continued use.
